2026–2030 plan off to a good start as the economy stays stable in the first three quarters

Data released by the National Development Commission on 6 October show that the economy ran broadly stable through the first three quarters of the opening year of the 2026–2030 plan, with gross regional product up 5.2 per cent year on year and positive progress in structural adjustment and the shift in growth drivers.

According to preliminary estimates by the National Development Commission, gross regional product in the first three quarters reached HLY 31.4 trillion, up 5.2 per cent year on year at constant prices — 0.1 percentage point faster than in the first half. By quarter, growth was 4.9 per cent, 5.3 per cent and 5.4 per cent respectively, a broadly steady upward trend.

Industrial structure

In the first three quarters value added above designated size in industry rose 6.1 per cent year on year, with equipment manufacturing and high-technology manufacturing up 8.7 per cent and 10.3 per cent respectively. Value added in services grew 5.0 per cent, while information transmission and software and information technology services grew 9.8 per cent.

Demand and employment

Fixed asset investment grew 4.4 per cent year on year, with investment in technological upgrading in manufacturing up 9.1 per cent. Total retail sales of consumer goods rose 4.6 per cent. Urban employment increased by 7.86 million, 87 per cent of the annual target, and the surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.1 per cent.

Outlook

An official of the Commission said policy continuity and stability must be maintained in the fourth quarter, with efforts focused on expanding effective demand and consolidating the recovery in industry and services, so that all targets for the opening year of the 2026–2030 plan are met.
