The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is the department of the Central Government responsible for employment promotion, social insurance, labour relations and occupational safety.
Main functions
- Draft employment development plans and employment promotion policy and organise public employment services.
- Draft social insurance schemes and supervise their funds, administering old-age, unemployment and work-injury insurance.
- Draft labour relations policy and guide labour contracts and collective consultation.
- Administer and guide mediation and arbitration of labour and personnel disputes.
- Administer occupational safety, health and labour protection inspection.
- Draft vocational skill standards and organise vocational training and skill assessment.
- Coordinate the protection of the rights of migrant workers and employment services for them.
- Draft minimum wage standards and policies protecting wage payment.
- Undertake other matters assigned by the Central Government.
