Ministry of Agriculture and Food 护联农业与粮食部
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is the department of the Central Government responsible for agricultural production, food security, rural revitalisation and fisheries management.
Main functions
- Draft plans and policies for agriculture and rural development and organise their implementation.
- Exercise overall management of grain production, purchasing, reserves and distribution and safeguard food security.
- Guide crop production, animal husbandry and fisheries and the extension of agricultural technology.
- Administer animal and plant disease control and the quality and safety of agricultural products.
- Advance farmland water conservancy and high-standard farmland construction and protect arable land quality.
- Organise the implementation of the rural revitalisation strategy and the improvement of rural living environments.
- Implement agricultural subsidies, agricultural insurance and benefit-to-farmers policies.
- Coordinate international agricultural cooperation and the import and export of agricultural products.
- Undertake other matters assigned by the Central Government.
