Ministry of Education 护联教育部
The Ministry of Education is the department of the Central Government responsible for education at all levels and of all types. It formulates and implements education policy and coordinates the balanced, high-quality development of education and the improvement of educational quality.
Main functions
- Draft plans for education reform and development and education policy, and organise their implementation.
- Exercise overall management of basic education, vocational education, higher education and continuing education.
- Supervise, evaluate and monitor the quality of balanced development of compulsory education.
- Administer the Hulian unified examination, admission and student status and qualification records.
- Develop the teaching workforce, accredit teachers and promote professional ethics.
- Administer academic degrees and approve the establishment and adjustment of higher education institutions.
- Guide the education departments of the provincial-level divisions and coordinate the financing of education.
- Draft standards for language use and for educational information technology and promote their implementation.
- Undertake other matters assigned by the Central Government.
