Ministry of National Defence 护联国防部

The Ministry of National Defence is the department of the Central Government responsible for national defence. It administers defence mobilisation, the building of the armed forces and military diplomacy, and safeguards the independence, territorial integrity and security of Hulian.

Main functions

  1. Formulate national defence policy, mobilisation plans and plans for reserve forces, and organise their implementation.
  2. Prepare the draft defence budget and supervise the use of defence funds and the management of defence assets.
  3. Direct the building and management of the armed forces and organise military training and operational readiness.
  4. Coordinate frontier, coastal and air defence matters.
  5. Organise the drafting of plans for defence science, technology and armaments, and advance equipment development and procurement management.
  6. Conduct military diplomacy, including external military exchanges and joint exercises.
  7. Coordinate the resettlement of veterans, preferential treatment and support for military families.
  8. Promote defence education and guide preparations for nationwide defence mobilisation.
  9. Undertake other matters assigned by the Central Government.
