Moderator: Good afternoon, friends from the press. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has convened this briefing for Chinese and foreign media so that an official of the Ministry can set out the arrangements for the President of Hulian’s attendance at the Asia-Europe Cooperation Organisation summit and state visits to relevant countries.
The official said the President will attend the summit from 24 to 27 September and make state visits to three countries. This is the most important multilateral diplomatic engagement of the President’s year and an important opportunity to advance practical cooperation between Hulian and its partners.
Summit agenda
The summit will discuss four topics: regional economic integration, energy and food security, climate change and people-to-people exchange. Participants will review and adopt the Asia-Europe Cooperation Organisation Development Strategy to 2030 and a summit declaration, and sign a set of cooperation documents on trade facilitation and cross-border infrastructure.
Bilateral programme
During the bilateral visits the President will hold talks and meetings with the leaders of the three countries and exchange views in depth on bilateral relations and issues of shared interest. A number of cooperation agreements in trade, science and technology, education and health will also be signed.
